All are invited to attend the next Recovery Café event!
After a successful show in October, Newark Think Tank on Poverty (NTTP) has returned to host the next event, featuring live music, visual art, and poetry created by Licking County’s own community members, who are either in recovery themselves, or allies to those suffering from substance use disorder. This event will be held on Sunday, December 12th, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Skyline at 85 E Main Street in Newark. The event is free and open to the public, and will also be live-streamed via the NTTP Facebook page.
Event highlights include live music performed by Nomadic Earth, a poetry reading by Rick Adams, and visual art by Scott Ashbrook, Rene Puma, and Daxx Tison. The Fishmarket Band is back by popular request as the house band to guide us through the event. This is a family event, and food and refreshments will be available at no charge for all attendees. Masks will be required and provided at the door. We hope you will join us to continue the tradition of a fun, safe, and sober event for all!
The Newark Think Tank on Poverty is a diverse group of people who are committed to systemic change at the local and national level. Along with our allies in other grassroots organizations, we work to challenge and change the economic, social, and political systems that continue to oppress working and poor by placing profits above people. When it comes to deciding public policy and governance, we believe that everyone—including working and poor people—should have a seat at the table and an equal voice in those decisions. In our seven-year history, we have worked on campaigns that address issues of homelessness, drug and alcohol addiction, transportation, food scarcity, and prison re-entry, while also working to meet the immediate needs of some of the most vulnerable people in our community. If you would like to join NTTP or would like more information, visit us at https://www.thinktanksonpoverty.org.
Community partners are welcome to contact NTTP at thinktankonpovertynewark@gmail.com if they would like to set up a table at this event, to bring awareness of services that may be of benefit to the populations affected by substance abuse or poverty.
